THE OTHER DAY MY CRAVINGS LEAD ME TO OFADABOY, SURULERE

There are one million and one ways in the world to spend a day off, can we begin from staying in bed all day, Netflix and chill, cleaning the house, window shopping, movie date, video games, doing laundry or even making babies? None of these was a bad choice except for the fact that there is no potential daddy to be making babies with yet. This explains how I made it to Ofadaboy in Surulere, Lagos.

Seeing a place will forever be the best way to spend my day off but at the same time, I was getting tired of the same old routine of going to see either galleries or ancient places where all I do is just take pictures. It was becoming boring for me I so badly wanted more!

It dawned on me that I have been ignoring my craving for the Ofada rice (local rice) I saw on a friend’s WhatsApp status because I haven’t made out time. I was smart to have asked where she bought the food and how much, following my craving finally became the best way to spend my day off.

The first good thing about Ofadaboy is the location, getting to No1 Mba street, off Tafawa balewa crescent, Adeniran Ogunsanya Surulere from any part of Lagos comes without stress. Common! it’s Surulere we are talking about.

The next good thing is the aesthetic setup of Ofadaboy, this is a common thought everyone shares and part of the reasons one would want to see the place. If I wasn’t tapped back to my senses, I could be there all day taking pictures. A warm inviting gesture came with the whole beautiful scene, I was encouraged to take more steps further – by then my craving had transformed into proper hunger.

At that point, all I needed above the food I was fantasizing to eat was the sincerity of how long the food would take so as to know my endurance threshold. The waiters’ appearance in a traditional attire told a lot about the place and what to expect but I was more concerned about the meal before concluding that.

The variety on Ofadaboy menu list is made in a way that will help you decide fast on what you want to order depending on your purse. The menu is not in any way confusing or intimidating, whatever you decide to eat will do the right justice to the rate.

The meal combo I chose did not make me feel like I couldn’t afford the rest, it came as my exact preference and the waiter was indeed sincere with the timing. It took more than two lines of my usual jokes for the other waiter to smile because he looked like he wasn’t having a nice day yet. By the time he showed up with the palm wine all smiles, I took it that he wasn’t happy with me because I did not intend to try the palm wine in the first place.

I can categorically say that with less than N5,000 you will enjoy a maximum treat at Ofadaboy. The ofada rice with plantain combo I ate was N1,800 and the 1litre palm wine that was served in an epic style was just N1,000. I waited for well up to half an hour after my meal before I got up to leave.

You need to see how the POS machine was packaged too, you will laugh! I remember the owner of Ofadaboy introduced himself and asked if I enjoyed my time. I ought to tell him to start planning of opening a place on the Island but it is worth going all the way.
