MY LAGOS WEEKENDS: NONSTOP AMAPIANO VIBES AT CONNEY ISLAND, LAGOS

MY LAGOS WEEKENDS: NONSTOP AMAPIANO VIBES AT CONNEY ISLAND, LAGOS

Almost every day in the previous year looked like a hopeless weekend so I totally lost touch with how it used to be out there during the weekends of our normal lives. For a thing, I know how intentional I used to be about my weekends since I worked 9-5, but events have taken a really sour turn.

The last 2 months that ended the year weren’t the best for me but the holiday that came after served as the best period for me to rejuvenate.

Going forward, I started finding my path to funfilled weekends back like I used to and I hope the vibe sticks.

The other weekend was ‘Amapiano On The Beach’ and it was all boogie for me.

The first thing that goes before my fun-filled weekend is planning. I start planning mentally right from mid-week and by the time the last day of the working week hits, I already know what to wear.

That’s why you have on my sleek bikini outfit.

What I prepare next is my mind – for me to have fun like I have never done before, to loosen up all the stress of the working week, and also to refreshen myself for the new week ahead.

The outcome of all this mental preparation turns out to be memorable days like this that make it up here.

When I heard ‘Nonstop Amapiano Vibes,’ my genius mind did not prepare me for the literal sense of it that we would not hear any other sound other than the South African house music called ‘Amapiano.’  Once I got there, I knew we were down to business for real and all I could do was get in on the act.

It was too late for me to learn the ‘amapiano’ dance steps but I knew I had to move my fire body to the energetic beats, then the whole jive began for me. Trust me I didn’t have to do too much because I am not one of the best dancers out there, but if there’s anything I know how to more than Poco Lee – it is how to vibe and party like it’s 99.

As it was that I had nothing else to do but give myself up to my raw emotions at that moment, I made sure to enjoy every element of the sound, consumed the ambiance, and fed it back with my energy. There was such beautiful lighting over there at Conney Island coupled with the tempting feeling of going to play at the beachside.

Remember from the beginning that it was ‘nonstop Amapiano vibes,I was the one who eventually left the party when it would not end but not without unraveling my full mami water image. Pictures are not enough to tell how eventful my weekend was.
