SEAN DAMPTE AND BOUTROSS EMIT A PURE AFRICAN SENSATION ON THEIR NEW SINGLE, “OVERLOAD.”

Overload - Sean Dampte x Boutoross

Overload shares title with some heavily loaded Afrocentric Nigerian songs that profess romantic love, but usually not in fairy tale likeness. This collaboration between Sean Dampte and Boutross will further foster the amalgamation of music customs currently taking place in Africa.

A series of publications have brought so much light to Sean Dampte’s excellent craftmanship and personality, but this piece spotlights the collaboration aspect of his craft as it relates to this new African sensation with Boutross, titled ‘Overload.’ Taking cues from a few of his records with exemplary singers like Bnxn and Seyi Vibes from Nigeria, and most recently, Ivorian rap star Le Juiice, it is evident how Dampte’s music travels the globe, penetrating different demographics and cultures.

What can also be perceived is the deliberate approach to his choice of co-stars. Each of them, just like Boutross of Kenya, has a stronghold on the genre they represent in their country, and they attain a smooth blend with Dampte’s Afro-fusion in pidgin English and Yoruba entwined.

Boutross pulls a huge wave in East Africa’s social media and streaming space as a trendy, sought-after, energetic pop culture icon. His collaboration with Sean Dampte, which was suspected to have been conceived during his recent Kenya tour, will further foster the amalgamation of music customs currently taking place in Africa.

‘Overload’ shares title with some heavily loaded Afrocentric Nigerian songs that profess romantic love, but usually not in fairy tale likeness. The acceptance of it is not in doubt in Nigeria; it will also be exciting to see how wide the song will fly in Kenya given the warmth and expectance of citizens who never get enough of Dampte during his visits.
