VOICES FROM A BROKEN MINE
voices from a broken mine
Tunnels down the earth, in search of gold copper and diamond stones…
The momentary bliss of the finders but eternal joy of the keepers..
A sweet and sour voyage, diggers in blood-like sweat toiling relentlessly for the peace of others
The bliss of not only keepers but of mothers children, brothers, sisters, a place where poverty eats the masses like a croc feeds on its prey
Soon this place of toil becomes a shamble, a rumble of despair as she begins to cry for blood, she must take back her pound of rock…
All that has been so taken for so long from her bosom, she demands…
The pain of the lost beneath, the sadness became like music so pervasive, invasive and corrosive to the ears of broken hearts
Broken families and broken dreams, all these came to reality for those who had demanded a living off the muscles and tissues of these men…
However she had spared a few, licked some blood but kept the bones and skulls…
In all hope was frail, food was little and water had dried…
But when men woke to , plans were made , hope came alive
The rescuers began, days after days weeks after weeks, until fear became still, every victory was everyone’s, every Smile was for all, hope increased, hope shook, hope fluctuated but persevered and hope came alive!
Yeah Suddenly… from beneath came the faint sounds, tearful noise, plea -filled voices …
More or less, voices of gratitude from salvaged crevices of a broken mine…
To those who despair and faint, hope beckons on you; be strong!
