WHAT IS YOUR LAGOS STORY? VII (THE INTERVIEW)

What is your Lagos story?

THE CALL

“Ring Ring!! My phone vibration made the bed in my brother’s Surulere room tremble. Hello Sa’eedah how are you; the voice announced to me at around 8 p.m that night that I was to be present for an interview at Igbo Efon/Lekki, Lagos by 11:30 a.m the next morning.

Are you wondering why so much emphasis??? Let me break it down for you (you know I don’t exaggerate).

As at that 8 p.m of the call, I was already in a relaxed mode ready to give in to the night after some unpacking had gone down earlier in the day with my brother’s friend.

CONFUSION

The height of my confusion was that, my things were at Omole Phase I, my former office. I left them after my session thinking I would go back to them at my convenience the next day. The call was impromptu.

The call threw me into well over an hour of confusion because I had to get to my place at AjahLagos before I proceed to the interview in Igbo Efon on or before 11:30 a.m.

GIVING UP

At a point, I thought about giving up the job. You know all those accessory thoughts that come with giving up?

Can’t the interview be postponed???” Oh! I forgot to tell you that it was the second phase of the interview which at least implied that I was close to getting the job.

Why didn’t they call me earlier hen! I could have prepared. “I don’t think I will make this interview jare!!!” Please who’s loss??? Lmao!!!

GOODNIGHT

My brother was as well thrown into thoughts with me. By then, time had played its fast trick to 10:24 p.m when the office doors would have been locked from picking my things.

Finally I submitted to sleep and partially into giving up but guess what? I woke up before cockcrow to begin my journey. . .

. . . . . . . . . . . to be continued. . . . . . . . . . .
