Discernment they say is the ability to see things for what they really are and not for what we want them to be. You would also agree with me that the aspect of our lives that yearns for discernment the most is in friendship/ relationship (so to say). The previous episode of this podcast connects to the uncertainty sustained in what the intention of a man/woman/them longing after a woman really is. The conversation continues in this episode regarding different categories of friendships with sexual activities involved of course.
Perhaps the most available term to use for anyone we are associated with is ‘friend’. Neighbour, colleague, church/mosque member, lover, fling, buddy, or whatever the name in the box is – the first word you are likely to throw out before proper definition is ‘friend’. “He/she is my friend, oh! not my friend like that, not like friend friend…” It is easier to put anyone under the umbrella of friendship irrespective of the nature of the relationship you have going on.

The layman’s definition of ‘friendship’ we knew during the dark ages was simply platonic in all gender till the world started to evolve to terms like ‘friends with benefit’, ‘friend zone’, and the actual term ‘friend’ became utterly complicated than we could imagine. Have you heard the snippet of the thunder that will strike you if you lie that you have never been in a friends-with-benefit situation or friend-zoned before??🤣 The benefit in the former is the sex, and that is what is missing in the latter.
In this podcast, we highlighted the basis of friends with benefit being a sexual relationship in which you are not outrightly dating or committed, but there is an underlining knowledge of what you have going while friend zone is an act exhibited by all the genders denying the other sexual access, yet rolling with them. **Too many cases for God to judge on the last day**
I stated categorically in this piece that, following the hit of COVID-19 lockdown which altered our mental capacities, a new definition of friendship evolved and you are just about to find out.
