COCOA HOUSE IBADAN
I hope somebody will agree with me that there’s an arm’s length difference between staying in Lagos and Ibadan? To think that boarding a taxi from Challenge area of Ibadan to Cocoa House in Dugbe was at no cost at all is enough proof.
*let me just stop there*
The plan was to get some accessories for my tab in one of the gadget stores around Cocoa House, it became a blog post when my camera fell in love at first sight with the elegantly seated building.
The 105 metres high building was the first skycraper in Nigeria and was once the tallest building in tropical Africa. (wikipedia)

If you are wondering why the building is called “Cocoa House” out of all the names a builing can have, it is because it was raised from the first brick to the top with cocoa proceeds by the Western states of Nigeria without federal government revenue.
Cocoa House was completed in 1965 and till date it still sits on the foundation of history. The building used to be referred to as ‘ile awon agbe’ (house of farmers). It is now used as a museum called ‘Odua’s Historical Museum.’

A fire outbreak was reported at Cocoa House in 1985; the first Shoprite mall in Ibadan is located in the same compound too. As it wasnt planned to enter the building to see what it looks like, check out the view of the elegant Cocoa House i captured.
Smile in the ancient city
