HOW I SPENT MY EID HOLIDAY

Raise your hand if you did not write this type of essay in your primary school let’s know why you did not have an interesting childhood, (lol) but I bet most of us did. I wasn’t thinking of any way to twist this post around than to narrate exactly how I spent my Eid Holiday.

My followers on the gram and other social media platforms already have a clue of where and how I spent my Eid holiday but based on popular demand, I am sharing the details here.

I told you in one of my old posts how anxiously my old man expects me whenever I am visiting the family in Abuja during that time of the year.

My visit to Abuja has officially become once in a year for Eid festival, I could barely wait for that time when I get to see my brothers and roll around town with them.

Guess what guys? I have the smartest cute little sisters in the world, Hafsat (5) and Zainab (3).

I noticed on arriving Abuja that my beloved old man did not come to get me at the park. I was a bit emotional because that was old age at work. His beards were flourishing in gray, he was yawning on the couch by the time I got in. I told you in that post that he doesn’t stay up any minute past “Isha” prayer (8pm prayer).

The hug was priceless; my step-moms inducted me as Daddy’s wife for the time being as my pretty little sisters were hopping around the house with joy. Last I saw Zainab, she was 2 – I was amused at how she acquainted with me immediately.

Guess what again guys??? My old man said as I approached the kitchen that I have added some flesh. Can the haturrrz in the house shooosh their mouths now, my daddy’s words are final! *eyes rolling* I answered questions about work, surviving in Lagos and why I cut my hair before I went to bed.

It was Eid the next day but we did not slaughter our rams till the following day. I had a closed-door meeting with my brothers on where to go for the purpose of sight-seeing, chilling and endless pictures. The big boys suggested Jabi Lake where we did some sightseeing and literally had my Eid photo shoot.

We made for Coco Café directly opposite Jabi Lake. I was lowkey excited to be having a proper hangout in Abuja as I have always wanted without Daddy’s monitoring eyes. Coco Café’s menu list was pocket friendly. The place turned out a roof top where we could oversee the Jabi Lake and the beautiful landscape of the nation’s capital city.

With #10,000 we got a pack of juice, chicken wings, some fries and strawberry flavoured shisha pot. I returned home to be devoured by the little angels I did not take with me.

The next day was ram day with four of them going down the hot oil. It was a tradition for us to receive guests on that day so I did not go out. I tended to different kids from our guests the whole day. The following days were on uneventful till I went for my eye checkup and had a walk with one of my brothers.

I returned home to pack my bags as Lagos beckons, my stay in Abuja was nothing like being in Lagos. Apart from the smiles I shared with family, the city itself feels serene and the ambiance of the National Mosque where my family stays is just too beautiful.
