BUJU TO YOUR EARS (BUJU) REBIRTHS, CHANGES STAGE NAME TO BENSON (BNXN)
A name they say represents identity, a deep feeling, and holds tremendous significance to its owner. What the name ‘Buju’ (now ‘BNXN’) has been attributed to in the Nigerian music industry includes pure melody, distinctive singing prowess, an uncommon voice, lyrical dexterity, and soul depth. These are the traits we have been attuned to with Buju, and we are in no way prepared for the name to be changed without warning.
Birth name, Daniel Benson, which was made known in a self-named track off his recent body of work, Buju took to his official Instagram account through a 1-minute video rendition to announce his change of stage name to a coinage of his real name.
It’s no longer “Buju,” by the way; call me “Benson,” written ‘BNXN’.

Reasons for this decision can be inferred to revolve around an intimate reflection of one’s self on the definition of true essence, the need to be more as known by Buju to always attain in his craft, and a choice to express truer emotions and wits. It’s okay to say it’s personal.
Reactions from this newness across social media platforms have been quite welcoming and full of confidence for the same ‘Buju Para,’ an indication that the name change will take some getting used to, but expectations are still on the highest radar for what we have always enjoyed from Buju, oh sorry, Bnxn!
Buju’s (oh I mean BNXN!) stage name change is plainly personal and that’s why I am up. Wait for it.✍🏻
